Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

Guidelines for Authors

  1. All articles submitted for publication in the IACOBUS Journal must be submitted online through this website. If you encounter any difficulties with the submission process, please contact us at: iacobusjournal@fceer.org. The journal's editorial board will review the submitted work for its relevance and suitability. Articles are then subjected to a double-blind peer review process. The final decision regarding publication lies with the Editor-in-Chief, after consulting the Editorial Board.
  2. Articles submitted must be original. Authors commit not to submit the same work simultaneously to another publication, nor to republish it without the express authorization of this journal.
  3. The content of the articles is the sole responsibility of the authors and does not reflect the views of the entities managing the IACOBUS program or the journal's Editorial Board.
  4. Manuscripts submitted for publication must comply with the APA (American Psychological Association) style guidelines. More information is available here: https://guias.sdum.uminho.pt/APA.
  5. Articles may be submitted in Portuguese, Spanish, Galician, or English.
  6. The first page of each submission must include the identification of the author(s), institutional affiliation, email address(es), and ORCID iD(s). Immediately after the article’s title (font: Constantia, size 12, bold, left-aligned), the author's name should appear in uppercase, font size 10, Constantia. Below that, indicate the institution, and on the following line, the email. If there are multiple authors, repeat the same format for each. All information should be left-aligned.
  7. Manuscripts should not exceed 45,000 characters (including spaces), excluding abstracts. Other types of texts, such as reviews or theoretical essays, should not exceed five pages.
  8. All submissions must be formatted in Word, using Constantia font, size 12, 1.5 line spacing (this applies to main text, notes, and bibliography) — following the template available on the website.
  9. Each article must include an abstract of no more than 650 characters, preferably translated into three languages (English, Portuguese, and Spanish or Galician). The abstract should clearly outline the article’s objectives, its main contributions to knowledge, methodology, key findings, and conclusions. After the abstract, please provide three to four keywords, also translated into the three selected languages. Articles should include only a limited number of figures, tables, and footnotes.
  10. Citations must not be translated.
  11. The following should also be considered in the formatting and structure of texts:
  • Use a maximum of two levels of headings (Constantia font, size 12, bold, left-aligned), preferably without numbering or using Arabic numerals.
  • Quotations must begin and end with quotation marks. Words in other languages (not the article’s main language) should be formatted in italics.
  • Non-textual elements (e.g., tables and figures) must be labeled with continuous Arabic numerals, with separate sequences for each type.
  • Footnotes should be indicated using numbers only, without parentheses. Footnote numbering should be continuous from the beginning to the end of the manuscript.
  • A reference list should be included at the end of the article, arranged alphabetically by the surname of the first author in each reference. Only documents cited within the text should appear in the bibliography.

11. There are no fees for submission, processing, or evaluation of articles.
12. The journal adheres to the recommendations of the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines (Committee on Publication Ethics).
