Abstract

This study aims to analyse the impact that the Revolution of 25 April, 1974 had on Portuguese Administrative Law. Born out of the Carnation Revolution, the 1976 Constitution of the Portuguese Republic enshrined the Social and Democratic Rule of Law. Since Administrative Law is, in FRITZ WERNER’s words, ‘Constitutional Law made concrete’ it cannot fail to reflect the profound transformations enshrined in the Constitution. We therefore analyse, firstly, the changes that have taken place in substantive and adjective Administrative Law and, secondly, the evolution of research and teaching in Administrative Law in Portugal.
